Nominations open for Knights of Rizal NY top Fil-Am awards

NEW YORK – The search is on for outstanding Filipino Americans in health and science, arts and literature, academia, and community service, as well as exceptional youth who excel both in and out of the classroom, the Order of the Knights of Rizal (New York Chapter) announced.

The organization will hold the 2019 Dr. Jose P. Rizal Award for Excellence on Friday, November 15, 2019, at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall (57th Street and Seventh Avenue, New York City).

The KOR award is open to all Filipino Americans in the United States and in the Philippines who have shown excellence in their fields. Anyone can nominate except those with one degree blood or affinity to a Knights of Rizal New York Chapter member. Self-nominations are not permitted. No posthumous award nominations are accepted.

How to submit nomination?

  1. Fill out the Nomination Form which can be downloaded in the Knights of Rizal New York Chapter Facebook account, or email kornewyork@gmail.com to request a copy.
  2. Submit a 1 PAGE NARRATION describing why the nominees should be considered for the award.
  3. Attached any substantiating data (Awards, newspaper clippings, personal work, pictures) Maximum of 10 pages only. Scan all attachments.
  4. Send PDF format of nomination packet to kornewyork@gmail.com or send hard copy nomination packet to 1745 DeKalb Avenue Ridgewood, NY 11385.

Candidates will be notified by e-mail and their names will be published in press release with their consent. DEADLINE to submit nominations is on September 1, 2019 at 11:59 p.m.
